Using IT for Political Advocacy

While many citizens choose Twitter and/or Facebook to advocate for important causes (or just vent), it’s definitely not the only weapon in the advocacy arsenal.

Countable and VoteSpotter are two apps enabling social advocates and political junkies to obtain info regarding issues and bills, so citizens can respond in real time to their elected officials.

We need everyone to fight for our Rights. Please contact your elected officials and tell them what’s important in your life. Remember, they work for you.

Do the elected officials in Washington stand with ordinary Americans – working families, children, the elderly, the poor – or will the extraordinary power of billionaire campaign contributors and Big Money prevail? The American people, by the millions, must send Congress the answer to that question. -Bernie Sanders

Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

Give the Gift that Gives

I had a lovely holiday and hope all my friends and family were able to spend time with family and friends during this holiday season (in person, over the phone or with holiday cards).

In this season of giving, I have to share one of my gifts because I hope it becomes a family tradition for us and for many others: giving gifts through Heifer International. My mom gave me a “Flock of Hope,” a flock of ducks, a flock of chicks and bees.

Please consider starting this gift-giving tradition for the holidays and throughout the year.

Happy Holidays, Happy New Year and Peace to you and yours.

A Flock of Hope donation is a remarkable gift that can lift a family from hunger and poverty and ensure their future. –Heifer International Catalog

To all those who have served and are serving, their families and their friends; thank you for your service and sacrifice. May you find strength, happiness and peace on this Veterans Day and in the years to come.

I’ll Give the DNC a Post-mortem

The DNC believed their own BS, just like the Republicans did with Romney years ago, and we’re all paying for it now. While both parties stink of hubris, the DNC and its members put their own egos ahead of a candidate that was winning and could have beat Trump. In short, this election was an anti-establishment election, and Bernie Sanders was the candidate to support, not HRC.

I’m so disgusted by those who voted for Trump, but even more so for those Dems who ignored voter fraud and suppression by the Democrats. (For more, please visit Angry Activists VS Smug Sheep #DemExit.) Berners were vilified for not backing the Dems’ choice. Former president Clinton mocked #BernieOrBusters, stating “If I were them, I’d be screaming too because they know they will be toast by election day.”

Comedians, pundits, and other DNC followers jumped on the band wagon, attempting to beat Berners into submission. Warned countless times, the DNC ignored the will of its own party and showed disdain for Independents and those with No-party affiliation, many of whom left the DNC long ago because of its powerless strategies (but were willing to vote Dem for Bernie).

You reap what you sow, DNC. Hopefully, you’ll become a footnote in political history with the rise of #OnePersonOneVote, but if not, then I hope our new and powerful citizenry develop a party of and for the people.

So when you wonder why you lost, consider the disenfranchised voters that you lied to and about, and go from there. In fact, how about you just go–far, far away.

And please note, this election wasn’t about your precious party, it was about our country, and now we’ll be ruled by Republicans in all three branches of government. Do you remember how well that turned out the last time?

So I hope you’re reeling from the travesty you’ve wrought. You deserve it; we don’t.
